A day that combines history and local flavours: in the morning the ruins of Pompeii, then lunch and a wine tasting at a family winery on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius, where the volcanic soil gives its character to wines such as Lacryma Christi. Your private driver picks you up at your hotel or port in Naples, Sorrento or on the Amalfi Coast and takes care of everything, so you can enjoy the wine without worrying about driving.
The itinerary
Pompeii
Walk the streets of the Roman city buried by the eruption of 79 AD: the Forum, the theatres, the baths, the frescoed houses and the casts of the victims. We recommend 2 to 3 hours on the site, ideally with a licensed guide.
Lunch and wine tasting on Vesuvius
A short drive takes you to a winery among the vineyards on the slopes of the volcano. You taste the local red and white wines with a lunch of typical Campanian products, and learn how wine has been made here since Roman times.
Return
After lunch your driver takes you back to your hotel, or on request continues to Sorrento or the Amalfi Coast.
